Major Changes to the Energy Assistance Program

May 7, 2021 - The Energy Assistance Program has had major changes go into effect recently. The application deadline for this season has been extended from the end of this month to September 1, 2021. This means applications must be postmarked or received on or before September 1, 2021 and households will have until September 15th to submit missing information for Three Rivers to approve applications. September 15th is also the deadline to request crisis assistance for past due balances, low tanks, and shutoffs. Additional funds – up to $1200 – have also been made available to help with crisis assistance. The last day for homeowners to request help with a heating system repair or replacement will be June 1, 2021. Income limits have also been raised from 50% State Median Income to 60% SMI, meaning more people will now qualify for EAP. Applications and income limits can be found on our website at https://www.threeriverscap.org/energy/energy-assistance.
