Local Support

This is a list of memory loss or caregiver support groups in Goodhue, Rice, or Wabasha Counties. For information on support groups in other counties or for a specific disease or condition, please call one of our advocates. If your group is not listed, please call Nicole Pelzl or Carla Pearson and to add your memory loss or caregiver support group to the list.

Wabasha County

Lake City:

Caregiver Support Group: 4th Thursday of the month from 10:00am - 11:00am at the Lake City Library.  Facilitated by Emma Onawa.  This group targets spouses who are caring for an individual with memory loss or dementia.  For more information: emmaonawa@unetus.com or 651-345-3737.

Grief Support Group:  2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 10:30am - 12:00pm.  The group welcomes anyone experiencing any type of loss.  Facilitated by Kathy Bang, MSW, LISW, at First Lutheran Church, 100 Peace Ridge (off of Hwy 63).  For more information: 651-385-3410.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Caregiver Support Group: 2nd Monday of Every Month 3:30 – 5:00pm, 480 West Grant Street, Lake City, 651-448-8333

Wabasha - St. Elizabeth's Medical Center:

Alzheimer's Support Group:  2nd Wednesday of the month from 2:00pm - 3:00pm.  The group primarily targets caregivers and family members of individuals with dementia-related illnesses.  For more information: Karen.evers@ministryhealth.org or 651-565-4581.

Rice County

Northfield:

Three Links Caregiver Support Group:  2nd Wednesday of the month from 4:00pm - 5:00pm.  Offering support and resources to those who provide care for a loved one, and welcomes all caregivers and interested family members.  Emphasis on dementia.  For more information:  Tana Kelly 507-664-8821.

Support groups meet at Northfield Hospital. Groups are always free, always welcoming  

Faribault:

Milestone Senior Living Caregiver Support Group:  4th Tuesday of the month from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.  Offering support and resources to those who provide care for a loved one, and welcomes all caregivers and intersted family members.  Facilitated by Brenda Johnson.  For more information: 507-332-7357.

Family Caregiver Support Group: Date(s): 4th Tuesday of the month, Time: 5:30—7:00 p.m, Location: Buckham West Commons, Contact: Andrew Weiss 507-332-7357  or aweiss1@brookdale.com.  Are you helping an elder with daily living activities?  Then you are a caregiver.  Join us on the 4th Tuesday of the month at Buckham West ~ 19 Division St. W. in Faribault for conversation with other caregivers.  Open to all; no charge.

Goodhue County

Red Wing:

Men Only Group (Men as Caregivers):  2nd Thursday of the month from 9:00am - 10:00am at Pier 55.  This support and information group is for men who are the long-term care provider for a spouse or other person.  All related topics associated with this responsibility are open for discussion.  Facilitated by Nick Even.  For more information:  651-327-2255.

Family Caregiver Support Group:  4th Thursday of the month from 1:00pm - 2:30pm at Pier 55.  Offering support and resources to those who provide care for a loved one, this Faith In Action sponsored group welcomes all caregivers and intersted family members.  Facilitated by Marcia Hislop.  For more information: 651-327-2255.

Parkinson's Support Group:  3rd Thursday of the month from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at Pier 55.  The group welcomes family, caregivers or anyone who has Parkinson's.  Join us.  Facilitated by Pat Kernan & Patrice O'Reilly.  For more information:  651-327-2255.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Group: 2nd Wednesday of each month from 10:00am – 11:30am. The group is a safe place for caregivers, family and friends of persons with dementia. Faith in Action Caregiver Support Group: 1st Tuesday of the month 1:30-3:00pm, St Paul’s, Lutheran Church, 320 W Ave, Red Wing

Pine Island:

Memory Cafe: 2nd Thursday of each month from 2:30pm - 4:30pm at the Pine Island Senior Center.  A welcoming place for people with memory loss, care partners, and friends to socialize, get information, and have fun. All are welcome. Facilitated by Marie Hlava. For more information: 507-259-0613.
